Licence conditions for pollution studies and reduction programs

Summary

Licence number: 805
Title: PRP 5 - Upgrade of Sewage Pump Station (SPS) 1
Start date: 01 Mar 2013

Licence Condition
Background There have been periodic discharges from sewer pump station (“SPS”) 1 adjacent to the Camden Haven River. The Camden Haven River adjacent to SPS 1 is a sensitive receiving environment and is an oyster growing area.   On 21 December 2012 the licensee wrote to the EPA providing its findings of an investigation that it conducted to develop a program of works to mitigate discharges from SPS 1. This investigation was undertaken as a requirement of PRP 4.   Deliverables The licensee must undertake works that it considers necessary to ensure that are no discharges from SPS 1 for all rainfall conditions up to and including a 1:5 year ARI, 24 hours duration, rainfall event. These works may include those proposed in response to PRP 4, and should also give consideration to installing on-site emergency storage as an additional means to prevent sewer discharges.   The licensee was originally required to have the works finished by 31 October 2014. As a result of delays to construction the completion date has been modified. It should be noted that the Licensee has put in place temporary measures that would meet the deliverables of the PRP's and this extension does not pose additional risk to the environment. The licensee must provide a report to the EPA’s Regional Manager – Hunter at PO Box 488G, Newcastle NSW 2300 that details the works undertaken.   Date for completion: 31 March 2015
