Licence Condition
The licensee must complete a groundwater assessment in the vicinity of the Ash Dam at the premises and submit a report to the EPA. The assessment and report must include: (i) monthly monitoring of groundwater wells VPGM1/D3, VPGM1/D5, VPGM1/D6, VPGM1/D8 and VPGM D10 to determine the groundwater quality of the area surrounding the premises with respect to metals, pH, selenium, arsenic and conductivity; (ii) a comparison of water quality data from VPGM1/D8 and VPGM D10 with data collected at monitoring bores VPGM/D6, VPGM/D3 and VPGM/D5 from January 2014 to December 2014; (iii) examination of the relationship of the water quality in Vales Point Ash Dam from January 2014 to December 2014 to groundwater data collected at VPGM/D6, VPGM/D3 and VPGM/D5 during the same period; and (iv) Identification and analysis of any elevated parameters recorded at VPGM1/D6, VPGM1/D3 and VPGM1/D5 when compared to background groundwater quality data at VPGM1/D8, VPGM D10 and the ash dam. The initial report was submitted on 28 February 2015 which recommended further investigations. The subsequent report must be submitted to the Regional Manager Hunter by 31 October 2015.
