Title:
PRS 7 - Concept Design for Stage 1 STP Upgrade Works
Start date:
17 Mar 2016
Licence Condition
Background The Dungog Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) was constructed in 1938 and has had no major upgrades since this time. The EPA has been in discussions with the licensee over a period of years with regard to the improvements necessary at the STP. As stage 1 of this process the licensee proposes to upgrade the STP with: new inlet works; upgraded trickling filters; a new humus clarifier, tertiary filtration and disinfection. Deliverables The Licensee must complete a concept design for stage 1 upgrade works to the Dungog STP. The design must achieve the following: - Provide capacity for future growth; - Provide effluent quality suitable for effluent reuse by irrigation or discharge to the Williams River; - Rectify asset condition issues associated with the existing plant. The concept design for Stage 1 must include, but need not be limited to: - New inlet works; - Refurbish trickling filters and concrete structures; - New secondary clarifiers; - New tertiary filtration; and - New disinfection plant. The Concept Design for the upgrade works must include proposed timelines to complete the required works and must be submitted to the EPA by 30 June 2016.
